Dead Poets Society

Within the first few minutes of Dead Poets Society, it is noticeable that the students are seemingly unemotional and are a tough nut to crack which illustrates a somber and depressing mood for entire opening sequence. The head master presenting his speech in front of the parents and students reflects that he has all the power and it's his way or the highway. Clean cut turns and perfectly sync movements with the boys walking with the flags help highlight that fact that order is present. The dimly lit room helps support the rather sad mood being presented to the audience watching the film. In addition, with the introduction of the new teacher joining the facility, an implication of disapproval comes from the population within the cathedral.
